An awfully big adventure...

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I am sitting here writing this with my head spinning because there has been so much going on over the past few days. Anyway, it is late on Friday evening as I write this, and it has been quite an evening. You know those nights that are not exactly planned but turn out to be much more fun for the lack of planning? I had errands to run this morning and then I went to the city. After a spot of shopping (sadly, mainly of the window variety) I grabbed a coffee and answered some work emails before heading to watch the Lantern Parade which accompanied the switching on of the festive lights in Liverpool One. There were some amazing full sized puppets and lots of music and laughter all around.
The city looks so pretty with all the lights everywhere. There was a watery full moon hanging low in the charcoal sky, and a smell of wood smoke and hot dogs from nearby stalls in the air. After a while, it was time to go and find some dinner, and since everywhere was crazily busy and we did not have a reservation, we headed again to an old favourite of mine, The Chilli Pot on North John Street in Liverpool city centre.
I have blogged about this place before and my-oh-my the food is so delicious. We were ushered straight to a large table, and before I knew it I was tucking into deliciously crisp vegetable spring rolls followed by Chicken Preow Wan (sweet and sour) with Jasmine rice and mango salad. A couple of glasses of chilled Sauvignon ensued and a few spoonfuls of Cheshire Farms coconut ice cream for dessert...well, life is too short to pass up a little bit of ice cream, right?! After that, it was on to a few other places for cocktails and outfit pictures outside the Tate Liverpool gallery. I cannot wait to see the Warhol exhibition which opened there today! Finally, after hours of fun we made our way home, slowly but surely as I kept stopping to take a million pictures of the beautiful scenery at the docks! Even though I lived in the city for seven years and I still live nearby now, I never get tired of just walking around and appreciating all the amazing sights. As I made my way throught the chilly night, suddenly, a grey shape caught my eye and I turned to see a majestic Heron skimming gracefully across the water. I hope that it was a sign that everything will somehow turn out right....

I love the look of the parade; there's a similar one called Fastnacht around lent time that we have here in Basel where I'm currently living, and it's fab to watch! Also love the look of that food...must note the name of the restaurant down for when I next visit Liverpool! Danielle x
