And I will love thee still, my dear...

So here we are lovely readers and I am sure that it has not escaped your notice that it is le weekend once more.  I had a super day yesterday, meeting a friend and enjoying the sight of the first leaves turning that glorious spectrum of russet, golden and burgundy colours which heralds the onset of autumn. Of course, many of us have mixed feelings about autumn; it is after all the twilight of the year, signalling the drawing in of nights and the donning of extra layers to keep warm.
I had not invested in a new season coat until I saw this one in Primark. It is everything a coat should be, versatile,  chunky, cosy and stylish. It only cost £23 yet the quality is similar to something you would find in Zara or Topshop at a much greater price. Despite that inter-seasonal malaise I am experiencing at the moment, I decided it was time to start dressing as though it is autumn even though the temperatures are still fairly mild. This outfit was what transpired:

A relaxing Saturday morning breakfast in my little glen of tranquility!

So, it is undoubtedly with mixed feelings that we bid adieu to the summer months. After all, there are so many amazing things about summer...barbecues, maxi dresses, sunbathing, picnics in the park, ice cream, trips to the beach and sitting outside for a drink with friends. Let us just pause for a moment to reflect on those late lamented summer pleasures...!
Oh well, the good news is that there are so many enjoyable things about autumn, here are a few of my personal highlights:

Kicking through a giant pile of crispy autumn leaves. This is a no-brainer, everyone loves doing this, even those who pretend to hate it secretly love it...!

Log fires. Sadly I do not have one in my home, so I will have to settle for finding them in country pubs...any excuse. Speaking of pubs...

Pub lunches are an ideal way to spend an autumn afternoon. A cosy sweater, knee high boots over skinny jeans and a floppy hat is the perfect look for an autumn pub lunch in my humble opinion...I digress, but there are also some amazing tartan scarves in Primark which are perfect to wear for an autumn pub lunch! Why does everything come back to Primark with me...?!

Steaming cups of coffee/tea/any other hot drink (maybe even Irish Coffee if we are talking sheer decadence!) after a long walk in the crisp autumn air.

Pumpkin spiced latte at Starbucks. With a chocolate brownie? Oh, if you insist!

Baking. Obviously you can bake all year round, but when the nights draw in, I feel more like whipping up a batch of cookies or a homemade pie. Mmm...!

Going to the cinema. I don't really go to the cinema much in the summer, as it seems like a waste to be sitting indoors when the weather is so nice outside, but in autumn I love going. I went to see the film 'Lucy' last night actually, a brilliant sci-fi action thriller starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman and directed by Luc Besson. It was the perfect piece of escapism for a Friday evening.

Updating your make up/wardrobe. When the summer ends, sandals need to be traded in for boots, maxi dresses need to be swapped for jumpers and jeans...what more of a perfect excuse could one desire for a shopping trip?! Then there is the make up, summery pinks can be swapped for rich burgundy's and chocolate browns...sounds like a good reason to drop into Boots...!

Ah, autumn, you look lovely today ;)

Red wine is perfect in autumn, the rich flavours just go perfectly with colder weather.

I recently bought the new MUA Luxe Velver Lip Lacquer in the shade 'Funk'. It was only £3 yet it gives a velvety finish of rich cherry/pink colour which lasts all day. I was seriously impressed!

A trip to the cinema :)

It seems like I cannot go a day without a trip to Starbucks. How amazing is the new Guatemala coffee they have on offer? I would definitely recommend it, I had my usual iced latte with an extra shot and it was delicious.

There was an amazing sunset tonight, and a reflection of the new moon in the water too. I only had my iPhone, but the picture still managed to capture the amazing colours.

So that is all for now lovely readers. Let me know what you all like the most about autumn. I love to read your sweet comments and I follow back my followers.

Until next time,

We don't care about the young folks...

Hi everyone, how are you all? Again this week has flown by so quickly and I have enjoyed doing several fun things. First and foremost, here is the outfit I wore the other day. Remember that River Island kimono I got months ago? Well I decided to wear it with my trusty Primark maxi dress which I have worn so much over time I am surprised it has not fallen to pieces! I love how pretty this kimono is, the detailing on it really is exquisite, as there are embroidered flowers and little gem stones sewn all over it. It makes me want to spin around in  a circle so that all the fringing 'swooshses' everywhere. Yes, I am 9 years old!

I went to a wine tasting this week too. It was held at one of my favourite places, the Wro in West Kirby. I had never been to a wine tasting before and it was really good fun. There were three wines to sample and warm bread and cheese platters were served too. This was a wine tasting with a twist because the whole thing was held in French. It was fun to try the wines and put your opinions across in French and there was even a fun role-play at the end of the wine tasting. There was a comprehensive Powerpoint presentation which told you all about how best to taste and enjoy a wine. Apparently, wine experts hold their wine glasses up against a white background in order to see the clarity and colour of the wine!

I have just popped into Liverpool this afternoon and I am sitting in Stabucks as usual whilst I write this post. I have got a Mango Passion fruit juice blend and it is delicious. Have you all tried it yet?

I went into New Look before to have a quick browse and I was really impressed by the new season stock. These chunky woolly capes ticked every box for the colder months. They were only £19.99 and the fringing and check pattern made them really on-trend too. I could just imagine them paired with skinny jeans, boots, a light jumper and a floppy wide-brimmed hat. This is a look that would work for a day out shopping, a pub lunch, or a nice afternoon walking the dog. I also saw a chic bag, it was actually a backpack, but it had a handle on the top of it too. Are you all excited for the new season?

 Capes £19.99 each, New Look.
Bag £29.99, New Look.

It never ceases to thrill me how beautiful Liverpool looks at night when it is all it up. Here is a picture I took at The Albert Dock during a stroll recently.

Some of my Blogging essentials lately, anti bacterial wipes from Primark, a pretty notebook from Lisa Stickley, Tesco roller ball pen, Maybelline lipgloss, Juicy Water and of course my Toshiba Satellite laptop :)

As usual, a sunset picture I took this week  to complete this post. I hope that you have all been having a good week so far. Let me now what you have been up to! Remember, I love to read your sweet comments and I follow back my followers.

Until next time,

This is how we do...

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. This was the week that my mum (or ‘the mothership’ as I sometimes nickname her!) swept into my life like a hurricane for a visit. She only gave me one day’s notice of her visit, cue much frantic cleaning of the house on my part. Ladies, you know exactly what I mean, right? You simply cannot let your mum arrive to find the house untidy (not that my house ever is *cough* of course not!) so I was whirling around like a dervish before her arrival.
Once she arrived, we proceeded to do as much as humanly possible within the two days we had together, which with this being me, included eating the most insane amounts of good food possible!
Here is my outfit during part of her visit, I just decided to throw on the same black duster coat from Primark which I have worn a lot lately, with cold knee jeans and the statement necklace I showed you in my last post. Also, I bought this hat in Primark (where else?!) yesterday. It is from their Limited Edition range and I think it is the perfect floppy wool hat for the new season. It only cost £10 and it has a cute gold chain detail on it too. I think it is the perfect item to add a bit of an edge to an otherwise plain outfit. for example, it looks really nice with jeans, a t-shirt and a blazer.

Everything above from Primark.

Day 1

After her late afternoon arrival, we went on a walk around the Marine Lake in the sunshine and then we headed out for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants, The Wro Lounge.

We had the set menu which consisted of two delicious courses for the incredible price of £10.07 each. We both began our meal with soup, I can’t recall what flavour it was, but it was rich and delicious, with perfectly crispy croutons. Yum. Next was a Veggie Burger for me and the Cajun Chicken for mum. Both dishes were exquisite.
The meal was accompanied by plenty of gossip and a couple of obligatory glasses of chilled Pinot Grigio. Bliss.

 My lovely Mum.

Mum and daughter time :)

Delicious soup of the day with croutons.

Day 2

The next day, we decided to go for a picnic on the beach in the afternoon, so we stopped off at the supermarket for supplies and then headed to best place I know for a picnic, Red Rocks in West Kirby, which has an amazing view of Hilbre Island and the sea beyond.

The yummy picnic.

After the picnic we went for a walk to burn off some of the calories we had just eaten and then later it was time for a dinner of fish and chips at the beach. Yes everyone, more food!

After that , it was time for another walk and then we went home and had a cup of tea in the garden to round off the busy day.

Day 3

It was the day my mum was due to head home, so we went for lunch at the pub ( I had a macaroni burger, mum had scampi) followed by a long walk on the beach before it was time for her to leave.

The stunning sunset.

We also stopped off to try the ice cream from a place called Tanskey’s in West Kirby. It was delicious and cost just £2.50 for two scoops served in a delicious waffle cone. There were plenty of choices such as vanilla and mint choc chip, and the lady who served us was very kind and friendly,
I had coconut and chocolate scoops and my mum had coconut and strawberry. The ice cream certainly lived up to its delicious reputation and we managed to successfully devour it before it melted. What an achievement!

 Tanskey's

 Double the fun ;)

The delicious ice cream.

I had a wonderful time and I did not want her to leave. The most surprising part of the visit was that we managed to avoid going shopping for the duration of her stay!
So that is just about everything that we did, what did you all do this week? Remember I love to read your sweet comments and I follow back my followers.
