A little break at Hard Days Night Hotel...

I have been very busy lately, so it was perfect timing last week for me to pack a bag and head to Liverpool for a little break, when I was invited to review Hard Days Night Hotel* which is housed in an opulent Grade II listed building which dates back to 1884. It is located in the centre of Liverpool, seconds away from all the shops of Liverpool One, and surrounded by bars and restaurants. The hotel also has its own restaurant, Blakes Restaurant and Bar Four which serves cocktails inspired by the Fab Four. Hard Days Night Hotel is inspired by The Beatles throughout and it boasts 110 rooms as well as suites dedicated to Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon, with Beatles artwork on the walls of each room. The flags were fluttering above the grandiose building as I swept up the staircase, the door held open by a charming doorman sporting a top hat. I was welcomed at reception and check in was swift and smooth.

I took the lift up to the fifth floor to my room. The luxury room certainly lived up to its name and my first impression was that it was spacious and light, with contemporary design. My eyes were immediately drawn to the large window and I was excited to take in the city views.
Every amenity had been thought of such as mini toiletries in the spacious bathroom (which had bath and shower), tea and coffee making facilities, a desk with a lamp, swivel chair and stationary. I was so pleased there was a desk area as I had a couple of work related things to finish when I arrived, and I connected to the hotel WiFi, which is another convenient feature. There was even a welcome note in the room wishing me a pleasant stay, a personal touch which I felt showed attention to detail.

After hanging up my clothes, I made a coffee and swept back the curtain to reveal a panoramic view of the city, including the Anglican Cathedral, the Albert Dock and the Wheel of Liverpool. I could have stayed there all day watching the ever-changing skies above and the famous landmarks, the view was just mesmerising.

Arguably the most important part of a hotel room is of course where you rest your head, so I flopped on the king sized bed to discover it was soft and comfortable, with the thoughtful addition of cushions ideal to sprawl upon whilst watching the flatscreen television embedded in the wall.

I perused the room service menu to see several options were available, but since we already had a dinner reservation at the hotel’s Blakes Restaurant I was conserving my appetite for later!
I soon made myself at home and I had a shower, chose an outfit for dinner and settled at the desk to finish off some work. Later, my partner arrived and we had a glass of bubbly whilst looking at the incredible vista again before we headed down to dinner at Blakes Restaurant (review in my next post).

After a sound sleep in that giant bed, I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed just in time to head down for breakfast. The breakfast at Hard Days Night Hotel is served in Blakes Restaurant and there was a huge array of cereal, fruit, pastries and yoghurt as well as a good selection of hot breakfast dishes including baked beans, fried and scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, toast, mushrooms and tomatoes. We certainly did not leave hungry and I thought the choice of breakfast food was impressive and it was all delicious. The time had come to check out, so we said a reluctant farewell to the room as we packed our things.

The service, amenities, guest accommodation and dining facilities at the Hard Days Night Hotel are excellent and there is everything you could need on hand. This is the perfect choice for either business travel or a city break, with so much to see and do in Liverpool. The central location of the hotel is another major plus point and the fact that the hotel has its own bar and restaurant also appeals. Afternoon tea is available and there are several package stays available if you want a relaxing overnight getaway in the city. Hard Days Night Hotel ticks every box in terms of a city centre hotel which combines the grandeur of the past with every modern convenience.
